The idea of Emergency - USA was born in 2002 when surgeon Dr. Gino Strada, co-founder of Emergency, was invited in the US for a cycle of conferences in several US Universities . It was born with the purpose of making Emergency a future active presence within american civil society, to actively support the international humanitarian activities that Emergency pursues in the world in favor of civilian victims of war and of landmines, and of contributing to spread through practical humanitarian projects a culture of peace and solidarity. Since it was founded in 1994, Emergency has expanded its activities considerably both in Italy and abroad. This has been made possible thanks to the help of volunteers who have dedicated us their time, and to private individuals, companies and organizations who have contributed to our projects.
